Hi, I'm Karen Pong. I design and run educational activities that provide training on human rights issues for capacity building and empowerment.

Karen Pong's Bio:

Karen Pong is an Educator in human rights education, peace education, conflict transformation, gender issues, human trafficking, people smuggling, migrants, refugees and children's rights. She's a dedicated peacebuilder who designs, manages and facilitates educational activities. She's a founding member of the Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (YPAN), a member of the Voices of Young Refugees in Europe and a volunteer at Generation 2.0. for Rights, Equality & Dignity. She's also an Operator with the NGO, Trafficked Victim Unit (Trafficking.ch). She's acquired significant skills and competencies through her active participation in youth work and civil society. She gained extensive knowledge in Peacebuilding, Conflict Transformation, Intercultural Dialogue, Advocacy and Project Management. She's attended many panel discussions, forums and (international) coferences. She's been an Observer at the annual global conference on trafficking in human beings organised by INTERPOL (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017). Furthermore, Karen Pong began youth work in 2007. She joined Centre for Research and Action for Peace (KEDE) in 2010-2013, and began raising awareness about human trafficking. She founded a youth association, Youth Against Human Trafficking in Europe (YAHTE) in 2013-2015. She has organised international youth projects funded by European Commission programmes Youth in Action/Erasmus+, (workshops, training courses, seminars, study sessions) nationally and in Council of Europe states. She also transmits her knowledge and experience through mentoring and consultation with individuals, informal groups and NGOs.

Conducting research and gathering information about human trafficking victims - mainly in Switzerland, but also in Greece. Field research and undercover work to map victims in Zurich Redlight District and producing intelligence report (given to Federal Police). Attending annual Interpol global conference on trafficking in human beings - drafting event report.

Training course “Conflict Resolution through Dialogue” organised by YiA and hosted by Global Youth Union. Created e-learning tasks and the educational content for 8 days programme for 22 participants from 6 countries (Georgia, Croatia, Armenia, Greece, Bulgaria and Russian Federation), held in a youth hostel. Methods of non-formal education - discussions, simulations, games, icebreakers, team-building, group work, reflection groups, visual tools, theatre of the oppressed, living library, energisers etc. Course evaluation and report.
